Thanks to actress Melissa Joan Hart for Instagramming one of our sculptures today – “Rabbit Reach” by Tim Cherry.
She is in town filming and posted this picture on Instagram. “Rabbit Reach” was a gift from Whitlow Wyatt and the Carey Cox Wyatt Charitable Foundation. It was given in memory of George Wyatt and Frank Kumpuris, who were the fathers of Whitlow Wyatt and Dean & Drew Kumpuris. Cherry’s bronze sculpture is located at the corner of President Clinton Avenue and Sherman Street, across from the Museum of Discovery.
Cherry’s bronze sculpture was selected for this spot because of its proximity to children at the Museum in the River Market district. The design and size of the sculpture encourages children (and adults) to climb on it and to play around the rabbit.
Melissa, thanks for the shout out! Enjoy Little Rock and send us a selfie with one of the sculptures!
Open Window, created by Ted Schaal, was the winning design for Sculpture at the River Market’s 2013 Monument Commission Competition. You can find Ted’s bronze and mirror-polished stainless steel sculpture along the south bank of the Arkansas River between the Junction Bridge and First Security Amphitheater.
Ted said, “The phrase ‘God doesn’t close a door without opening a window’ inspired the conceptual design of this contemporary sculpture. The stainless steel orb represents that moment of grace when one recognizes the opportunity to move on from a particular situation of life. Gold leaf is used to embellish the Window.” The sculpture was installed in May 2015.
Country star Tim McGraw performed in Little Rock last week. We happened to catch his tweet. Thanks Tim…we hope you were able to see all of the collection while you were in town!
